Productor mexicano y Director del Instituto
Mexicano de Cinematografía desde 2013. Ingresó a
la primera generación del Centro de Capacitación
Cinematográfica con la intención de formarse como
director, abandonando la carrera poco después. Funda
la distribuidora ZAFRA VIDEO y CINEMATOGRÁFICA
MACONDO, a través de las cuales se ha distribuido
el Cine Mexicano Independiente y el Nuevo Cine
Latinoamericano así como el cine de arte. A la fecha
cuenta con diecisiete producciones, seis de las cuales
han participado en diferentes secciones del FESTIVAL
DE CANNES. Ha producido para algunos de los más
relevantes directores del cine Latinoamericano como
son María Novaro, Arturo Ripstein, Paul Leduc, y Tomás
Gutiérrez Alea. Fundó y presidió la Asociación Mexicana
de Productores Independientes (AMPI) y la Federación
Iberoamericana de productores del cine y el audiovisual
(FIPCA). Fue Cónsul General de México en Río de Janeiro
durante cinco años y Director del Festival Internacional de
Cine en Guadalajara en sus ediciones 2005 al 2010. Sus
más recientes producciones son PALABRAS MÁGICAS,
documental de Mercedes Moncada y TIJUANA 5 Y
10, documental dirigido por Alberto Cortes, así como
EISENSTEIN ENMÉXICO dirigida por Peter Greenaway.
Mexican produces and Director of Mexican Institute of
Cinematography since 2013. He was part of the first alumni
generation of Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica
with the intention of becoming director, he dropped
out soon after. He funded the distribution company
ZAFRA VIDEO and CINEMATOGRAFICAMACONDO,
through which he distributed independent Mexican,
Latin-American and Auteur cinema. To this date holds
seventeen productions, six of them have participated in
different sections the CANNES FILM FESTIVAL. He has
produces for some of the most relevant filmmakers of
Latin-America such as, Maria Novaro, Arturo Ripstein,
Paul Leduc and Tomas Gutiérrez Alea. He was a found
member and led the Mexican Association of Independent
Producers (AMPI) and the Iberoamerican Federation of
Film and Audiovisual Producers (FIPCA). He was General
Consul of Mexico in Rio de Janeiro for five years and
Director of Guadalajara’s International Film Festival
from 2005 through 2010. His most recent productions
are PALABRAS MAGIAS, documentary by Mercedes
Moncada and TIJUANA 5 and 10, documentary by Alberto
Cortes, as well as EISENSTEIN ENMEXICO, directed by
Peter Greenaway.
