Cineasta Suizo-canadiense, quien además enseña cine
en la Universidad de Québec en Montreal. Su película de
1986 ANNE TRISTER fue seleccionada en el 36 Festival
Internacional de Cine de Berlín. Durante los 90’s dirigió
varios documentales y programas para la televisión de
Québec, incluyendo HOTEL CHRONICLES y GABRIELLE
ROY. Su película de 1999 EMPORTE-MOI ganó el Premio
especial del jurado del 49 Festival Internacional de Cine
de Berlín.
Lea Pool no hace películas “populares”; su trabajo a
menudo a sido etiquetado como “Cine para mujeres” o
“Cine feminista”. Rechaza la idea “puritana” de la ideología
feminista de los 70’s, la del juego en la relación hombre-
mujer, prefiriendo un acercamiento femenino mucho
mas Íntimo y poco convencional. Con una postura
contra los estereotipos y buscando la individualidad,
Léa Pool trae una bocanada de aire fresco a la industria
cinematográfica de Québec.

‘90s, she directed several documentaries and programs

Léa Pool does not make “popular” films; her work has often
been labelled “women’s cinema” or “feminist films.” She
rejects the “purist” feminist ideology of the 1970s, of the
male-female relationship game, preferring a more intimate
and non-traditional feminine approach. Standing against
stereotypes and looking to individuality, a poetic daily
cinema, Léa Pool brings a breath of fresh air to Québec
filmmaking.
