Director, guionista y productor mexicano. Es considerado
dentro de su generación uno de los cineastas más
representativos de México a la par de Arturo Ripstein.
Sus obras más representativas son LAS INOCENTES
(1986), LAS POQUIANCHIS (1976), EL APANDO (1976) y
CANOA (1976), las cuales lo caracterizan como el cineasta
más acérrimo y creativo dentro de la historia del cine
latinoamericano. CANOA participó en la 26º edición
del FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE CINE DE BERLÍN,
donde ganó el Oso de Plata y Premio Especial del Jurado.
En 1973 su película AQUELLOS AÑOS participó en el
8º Festival Internacional de Cine de Moscú donde fue
merecedor al Premio Especial.

movies. CANOA was entered into the 26TH BERLIN
INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, where it won the Silver
Bear - Special Jury Prize.[1] His 1973 filmAquellos años was
entered into the 8th Moscow International Film Festival
where it won a Special Prize.[2]
