Tab Hunter nació en Nueva York en 1931. De adolescente
fue patinador de hielo. Se unió a la Marina de Estados
Unidos a los 15 años. Estando ahí se ganó el apodo de
“Hollywood” por su afición de ver películas.
Después consiguió un papel en el film ISLANDOF
DESIRE (1952), pero su personaje en el drama BATTLE
CRY (1955) fue el que cimentó su posición como una de
las principales estrellas jóvenes de Hollywood. Otros
éxitos incluyeron THE BURNING HILLS (1956) con Natalie
Wood, THAT KINDOFWOMAN (1959) con Sophia Loren
y THE PLEASURE OF HIS COMPANY (1961) con Debbie
Reynolds. Estelarizó más de 40 películas y se convirtió
en actor de culto en los 80s por su participación en
POLYESTER y LUST IN THE DUST, ambas con Divine.
A pesar de vivir una vida pública en el clóset, Hunter tuvo
una larga relación con el actor Anthony Perkins, para
después establecerse con su pareja de más de 30 años,
Allan Glaser.
Tab Hunter was born in New York City in 1931. As a
teenager he was a figure skater. He joined the U.S.
Coast Guard at the age of 15. While there, he gained the
nickname “Hollywood” for his penchant for watching
movies.
He then landed a role in the film ISLANDOF DESIRE (1952),
but it was his role in the drama BATTLE CRY (1955) which
cemented his position as one of Hollywood’s top young
romantic leads. Other hit films included THE BURNING
HILLS (1956) with NatalieWood, THAT KINDOFWOMAN
(1959) with Sophia Loren and THE PLEASURE OF HIS
COMPANY (1961) with Debbie Reynolds. He went on to
star in over 40 major films and became a cult star in the
1980s appearing in POLYESTER and LUST IN THE DUST,
both with Divine.
Despite living a public closeted life, Hunter had a long-
term relationship with actor Anthony Perkins, before
settling down with his partner of over 30 years, AllanGlaser.
