MéxicoFernandoEimbcke.Unadeestascolaboraciones fue
TEMPORADADEPATOS (2004), largometrajecon laque
lograron renombre internacional. Ademásdesu trabajocomo
guionista,Markovitch realizóen1999PERIFÉRICO, suprimer
cortometraje, enel queapareceDiegoLuna. Esto levalióuna

Mundo.Despuésdeunsegundocortometraje (MÚSICADE
AMBULANCIA2009),Markovitch realizaen2011ELPREMIO,

Born inArgentina, At age22 immigrated toMexico. In the
mid -1990sbegan toworkasscreenwriter inMexicancinema
and television.Her first script for directorCarlosCarrera ,
thefilmSINREMITENTE (1995), participated in theofficial
selectionat International VeniceFilmFestival in1996andwon
fourAriel Awards . In1998,Markovitchwasnominated for a
major awardofMexicancinema for herwork inELISAANTES
DELFINDELMUNDO (1997). After furtherwork inseries
anddocumentaries, in2007shebecame thescript forDOS
ABRAZOS for theMexicandirector EnriqueBegnes.Markovitch
alsosuccessfullyworked twicewithdirector originally from
MexicoCityFernandoEimbcke.Oneof thesecollaborations
wasTEMPORADADEPATOS (2004), a feature that achieved
international renown. PERIFÉRICO isher firstworkas
director, and itwas invited to theofficial selectionatCanadian
WorldFilmFestival. After her secondshort (MÚSICADE
AMBULANCIA2009),MarkovitchdirectedELPREMIO in2011,
her debut featurefilm, forwhichhealsowrote thescript.. The
filmwon theSilverBear at theBerlinFilmFestival in2012. Paula
Markovitch lives inMexicoandworks, amongother things, asa
playwright andprofessor at IMCINE.
