(Undertow) premieredat theSanSebastianFestival in2009and
haswon54awards in international festivals, suchasSundance,
Cartagena,Miami, Chicago,Utrecht,Galway, Vancouver,
Montreal, andLima. “Undertow“wasPeru’sofficial submission
for the2011AcademyAwardsandwasnominatedasBest
Ibero-AmericanFilmat the2011GoyaAwards. Currently, Javier
ispreparing the featurefilms“El elefantedesaparecido“ (The
VanishedElephant), apsychological thriller inspiredbyashort
storywrittenbyJulioCortázar; “Lamujer que le temíaal sol“
(TheWomanWhoFeared theSun), basedonhisplay“Mr.
Clouds“; and“Siniestro“ (Sinister), a rockmusical set inanear
futureofwhichhealsocomposed themusic.
