Ledije: yonuncameolvidaréque tumeeducaste, yentonces
medijo frenteaLourdesGrobet, amigaymaestra: “¡Yono te
eduqué!, ¡yo tesalve!”. Lourdesmedijoenserioperobajito: “No
dejesel teatro”. Atemorizado ledije tambiénbajitoycomplice,
comosi solose tratarahacer enojar amimaestra:No, pero
ya lohabíahecho, sinsiquierasaber quemeesperaba. Antes
de terminar lacarrerayaproducíacortosyvideosdemanera
independiente. Enel 2000, comencéaacudir al CCCcomo
oyente.Hicemi primer corto. “SeVusca”. Al siguienteañome
mudéaUSA, no trabajéeseperiodo, solovimuchocine, de4a
5películasdiarias, sinparar, por unaño. Tiempodespués, fundé
mi productora IZFilmsenMiami y trabajépara laTV, compañías
discográficas ydistintasagenciaspublicitarias. Enel 2008,
regreséaMéxicosugeridoobligatoriamentepor “LaMigra”.

I studied theaterwithMaríaAliciaMartinezMedrano. 94-99at theLaboratoriodeTeatro
Campesinoe IndígenadeMéxico–CONACULTA.However, Iwent away from theater
for thesame reason Iwasattracted to it, isdisappeared. I likecinemabecause in it I
contemplate theater,musicandpainting… I canhaveall of them together and forever.
In that time, Iwasstill a“noone”when I toldmy teacher Iwasgoing to retire from the
stage toonlywork for “cinema”. Shegot angry…“Iwill never forget you trainedme” I
said, and thensheanswer in front of LourdesGrobet,who isa friendanda teacher: “I
didn’t trainyou!, I just savedyou!”Lourdeswhispered tomyear “Don’t quit theater”.
Iwasscared, and Iwhisperedbackas if I justwanted tomakemy teacher angry “No”
But I hadalreadyquitted theater even though I didn’t knewwhat Iwasgoing todo
withmy future. Before I finishedmybachelor’sdegree I hadalready independently
producedshort filmsandvideos. In2000 I startedattending theCCCasunregistered
student. I didmyfirst short film“SeVusca”. The followingyear Imoved to theUnited
States, I didn’twork for a longperiod, I justwatcheda lot ofmovies, 4or 5moviesa
day, for ayear. After awhile I foundedmyproductionCompany IZFilms inMiami and
Iworked for TV, discographiccompaniesanddifferent advertizingagencies. In2008
I cameback toMexico, “LaMigra” (immigrationPoliceAuthorities) suggestedme to
obligatorycomeback. That sameyear IwonaYoungCreator scholarship. Twoyears
after PaulaMarkovitch invitedme toproduce“El Premio”,winner filmof twosilver bear
inBerlin, Best FilmAward inGuadalajaraandMoreliaamongothers in2011. Since2012 I
coordinate thebachelor’sdegreeat theCommunications’University inMexicoDF. I ama
Filmproducer and I givemy life toeachproject. I ama teacher because it’sapassion for
me tosharemyknowledge. I’manartist inany timeof theday, I create, I imagine, Iwork.
That isalsowhatmakesme invincible.
