TALENTCAMPUSGUADALAJARA
CONTEXT
TheGuadalajara International FilmFestival (FICG) has
been held annually for 25 years, bringing audiences
the best Latin American and international movies
and amyriad of activities dealingwith disseminating,
promoting, producing and appreciating the seventh
art. FICG iscurrentlyMexico’smost important festival
besides being themain showcase for LatinAmerican
movies for theworld, andLatinAmerica’smost active
venue for attracting and negotiating film projects. In
the 24th Festival held from March 19 to 20, 2009,
FICGshowed226 feature-lengthfilmson20screens;
41countries fromaround theworldwere represented;
1,625film industryprofessionalsand140 internationalpurchasersparticipated;551 international
press representativesand106,000spectatorsattendedandhad theopportunity to learnabout
movies fromLatinAmericaand theworld.
FICGhasalwaysbeencommitted to thecontinuouseducationof youngcreators in thefieldof
audiovisual. The first Talent CampusGuadalajara (TCG) was introducedat last year’s festival.
TCG isanevent that isorganized incollaborationwith theBerlinaleTalentCampusat theBerlin
International FilmFestival, theGoethe-InstitutGuadalajaraand the IbermediaProgram.
Talent Campus Guadalajara is headquartered inGuadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico but shares its
benefitswith the restofMexico,CentralAmericaand theCaribbean, the regions thatare invited
toparticipatewithstudentsat thisencounter.Experts fromall over theworldwill participateas
tutorsandmentorsandheadworkshops.
