Paulina del Paso es una cineasta y artista visual que
abarca lo narrativo, lo experimental, el documental, la
ficción, la fotografía y la instalación. Su trabajo explora
las posibilidades del lenguaje audiovisual, así como
las cuestiones de genero, los estereotipos y el sexo,
entre otros temas. Paulina inició su carrera en 1994
cuando dirigió el cortometraje MÍRAME y no me toques
producida por Bertha Navarro y Alejandro Springall junto
con la Universidad de Guadalajara para una serie de
televisión. Posteriormente cursó la carrera de realizadora
en el Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica.
Ahora cuenta con una docena de cortometrajes, siete
documentales mediometraje para televisión, así como su
ópera prima LA GUERRERA que se estrenó en el 2011 en
el Festival Ambulante. Su primera exposición individual
Wish I were here (Ojalá estuviera aquí) se llevó a cabo
en Londres en el 2008. Editora, asesora de proyectos y
becaria del Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte (2013-
2015), su instalación Tv-Frenia se inaugura este mes en el
Laboratorio Arte Alameda a la para que prepara su ópera
prima de ficción A flor de piel cuyo guión co-escribió con
la cineasta Elisa Miller gracias al Programa de Estímulo
a Creadores Cinematográficos del IMCINE. Dicho
proyecto fue también merecedor del Premio Gabriel
Figueroa Film Fund y el Premio CTT en Los Cabos Film
Fest 2015.
Paulina del Paso is a filmmaker and visual artist who
works’ in narrative, experimental, documentary, fiction,
photography and installation. Her work explores the
possibilities of audiovisual language as well as gender
issues, stereotypes and sex, amongst other themes.
Paulina began her career in 1994 when she directed the
short filmMÍRAME but don’t touch produced by Bertha
Navarro and Alejandro Springall along with the University
of Guadalajara for a television series. She then studied
film directing at the Mexican Film school Centro de
Capacitación Cinematográfica. She now has more than
a dozen short films, seven half-length documentaries for
television, along with her documentary feature film
THEWARRIOR that premiered in 2011 in the Ambulante
Film Festival. Her first individual exhibitionWish I were
here was in London in 2008. Editor, adviser, and Member
of the National System of Creators and Artists (2012-2015),
this month she will inaugurate her installation Tv-Frenia
in the Laboratorio Arte Alameda and is now preparing
her fiction feature debut Skin Deep, whose script she co-
wrote with the Mexican FilmDirector Elisa Miller, thanks to
the Stimulus Program for Filmmakers of the Mexican Film
Institute IMCINE. This project also received the Gabriel
Figueroa Film Fund Prize and the CTT Prize in Los Cabos
Film Fest 2015.
