Apesar de formar partedeuna familiadeartistas, ÁngelaMolina,
unade lasfigurasmásdestacadasdel cineespañol, nunca
imaginóqueseconvertiríaenactriz. Lahijadel actor ycantante
AntonioMolinapretendía forjarseunacarreraenel ballet clásico,
hastaqueundíaunaprofesoraprofetizósu futuro: “serás lamejor
actrizdelmundo”.Una reunión familiar, en laque recitóunos
poemasdeFedericoGarcíaLorcaqueprovocaron losaplausos
de lospresentes, fue laseñal definitiva. Pocasactricespueden
presumir el currículumque tieneÁngelaMolina. Encuarentaaños
de trayectoriahaparticipadoencasi uncentenar depelículasy
trabajadoconalgunosde losmejoresdirectoresespañolesde
todos los tiempos, entreellosPedroAlmodóvar yLuisBuñuel
conquiencolaboróen“Eseobscuroobjetodedeseo“en1977.
Desdemuychica,Molinanopararíahastaalcanzar susueño. Y
ésteno tardóen llegar. En1974, con19años, formópartedel
elencode“Nomatarás“. Lossiguientesaños fueronmuchomás
productivos. En1976 rodóseispelículasdirigidaspor directores
comoMiguel Picazo, Antoni RibasyManuel GutiérrezAragón.
Conesteúltimo iniciaríauna relaciónmuy fructífera.Gutiérrez
Aragón ladirigióen lasaclamadas“Camadanegra“, “El corazón
del bosque“, “Demoniosenel jardín“y“Lamitaddel cielo“.
Durantesu largacarrera, que incluyecine, teatroy televisión,
Molinaha recibidounagrancantidadde reconocimientos
internacionales. SuparticipaciónenCamorradeLinaWertmüller
en1985, levalióel GranPremiode Interpretaciónenel Festival
Internacional deCinedeSanSebastián, el GranPremiode la
Crítica Italianayel PremioDaviddeDonatello. Sumás reciente
trabajoen lapelícula“Blancanieves“dePabloBerger, donde
haceel papel de laabuelaDoñaConcha, hamerecidoexcelentes

shewouldbecomeanactress. Thedaughter of actor andsinger
AntonioMolinaaspired to forgeacareer inclassical ballet, until
onedaywhenaprofessor predictedher future: “Youwill be the
best actress in theworld.”A family reunion,whereshe reciteda
number of poemsbyFedericoGarcíaLorca thatmadeeveryone
present applaud,was thedefinitivesign. Fewactressescan
boast a résumé likeÁngelaMolina’s. Inacareer spanningover
fortyyears, shehasparticipated inalmost ahundredfilmsand
hasworkedwithsomeof thebest Spanishdirectorsof all time,
among themPedroAlmodóvar andLuisBuñuelwithwhomshe
collaborated in“Eseobscuroobjetodedese“o (ThatObscure
Object ofDesire) in1977. From that timeon,Molinadidnot
stopuntil shemadeher dreamcome true,whichdidnot take
long. In1974, at 19yearsold, she formedpart of thecast of “No
matarás“ (ThouShaltNot Kill). The followingyearsweremuch
moreproductive. In1976shefilmedsixmoviesbydirectorssuch
asMiguel Picazo, Antoni Ribas, andManuel GutiérrezAragón.
She formedavery fruitful relationshipwith the latter.Gutiérrez
Aragóndirectedher in theacclaimedfilms“Camadanegra“
(BlackLitter), “El corazóndel bosque“ (Heart of theForest),
“Demoniosenel jardín“ (Demons in theGarden), and“Lamitad
del cielo“ (Half ofHeaven). Throughout her longcareer,which
includesfilm, theater, and television,Molinahas receivedagreat
deal of international awards.Her participation inLinaWertmüller’s
“Camorra“ (AStoryof Streets,WomenandCrime) in1985won
her theBest PerformanceGrandPrizeof theSanSebastián
International FilmFestival, the ItalianCriticsGrandPrize, and
theDaviddeDonatelloAward.Hermost recentwork inPablo
Berger’sfilm“Blancanieves“ (SnowWhite),wheresheplays
the roleofDoñaConcha, has receivedexcellent commentaries
and thecritic’s recognition. It isanhonor for theFICG todedicate
thisyear’sGuadalajara Ibero-American tribute tooneof themost
outstandingSpanishactressesof the last decades.
