The Talent Campus Guadalajara is themost distinguished of an array of activities
that take place during the Guadalajara International Film Festival. First realized
at theBerlin International Film Festival, the idea is to take advantage of thepres-
ence of people from all branches of the film industry for the purpose of intensive
workshops and freeexchangeof ideas,whileopeningnewperspectives for young
people and creating educational opportunities for the most experienced. This
partnership with the Berlinale has been a repeated success; counting on only
three years of experience, our Talent Campus, with
70 select young filmmakers
fromMexico, Central America, and the Caribbean
, has established itself as an
integral and irreplaceable part of theGIFF.
This year Talent Campus Guadalajara will present honored guests:
Werner
Herzog
, undoubtedly theGermanfilmmaker whohas beenmost influential in the
world and
DianaBracho
, oneof themost versatile actresses thatMexican cinema
has produced.
Under themotto
Cut and paste, the pentagram of a story
wewill focus our at-
tentiononediting, and reflect specificallyon its inherent difficulties.We relyheav-
ily on the shared experiences of filmmakers like
Bill Plympton
and
Eran Riklis
, as
well as theperspectiveof screenwriter
GuillermoArriaga
, and, last but not least,
the presence of Talent Press Guadalajara’s
HugoGutierrez Vega
, an established
cultural journalist, and recent recipient of the Fernando Benitez prize for cultural
journalism inMexico.
